A wallet managment platform that allows web3 teams governance of digital assets and contracts with no-code policy building and automation tools
Narval
Lead Product Designer, UX/UI @Narval
Overview

Narval is platform suite of developer and consumer tools for web3 enabled teams looking for more governance over their wallets, contracts, and other digital properties

The Narval console is a consumer tool built as a no-code solution to manage team members, build custom policies, and interact with web3 enabled websites in a secure enclave.

Contribution
I was hired as a contract product designer. During my time at Narval I focused on a few major initiatives.

I worked on the Narval console, where I redesigned flows to manage wallets and members. I also designed new ways to build policies and interact with web3 contracts through no-code automations.

I built the design system in Figma from the ground up, and contributed to improvements in brand messaging, visual design, and copywriting.

Problem
🧩 Landscape is fractured
People are interacting with web3 using Metamask, Phantom, Coinbase, and other personal wallets. Organizations are protecting assets using various vault systems like Safe or Fireblocks. Nobody has brought all of these tools together in a unified experience.
😵Contracts are confusing
Currently, its difficult for new web3 teams to interact with contracts without an engineer onboard. How can Narval bring contract operation to users in an accessible but scalable format?
🔬 No granularity
Current products in the market don’t offer granularity on policy building. Users want contol of permissions, contract calls, and transfers at a member level. They want more flexible administration of contract functions.
👯 Account abstraction
Products are contract or account centric. Not user or team centric. Permissions and accessibility are currently built around accounts, not people. How do we abstract account management such that it parodies a team format? How do we build better contract interactions for the types of operations that different teams use?
🪧 Subpar security standards
Using personal wallets to perform team or organizational operations is a security risk. Teams should be able to have oversight of all the wallets and actions that wallets are taking on behalf of the team.
Work
Target Users
First, I scoped the identities, personas, and needs for the target users of the Narval MVP.
I focused on a few core user stories to help craft the groundwork for the featureset and functionality.

Web3 Team Admins

Engineering leads, product leads, marketing leads, or other administrative roles looking to have more control
Examples

I want to add new members to my team

I want to assign permissions to those members

I want to create wallets for different types of uses

I want to build flexible policy around the ways members and wallets access web3 websites

Team Members

Engineers building products, or simply wallet holders operating on behalf of an organization
Examples

I want to join a team

I want safely use team assets with dapps

I want see the contents of my wallet

I want to transfer NFTs or tokens to other members
Research
We compiled research from direct calls with potential customers, beta testers, and advisors to craft an experience that matched the needs being voiced to us directly from consumers
Roadmap
I worked with cross functional  team members to understand requirements across the entire ecosystem, map out features, and craft a roadmap based on resource allocation and depencies
UX Mapping
I compiled all of the requirements, discussions, and understandings to develop a strong product thesis and a series of core features for the MVP, which included a desktop web app geared towards teams, and a browser plugin for members.
Pitch
I worked with the founders to hone the product pitch into a format we could communicate to investors, partners, and our user audience. The deck communicates the core value props for teams, users, and engineeers (for the API)

With the strategy, roadmap, and core value-prop in place, I worked with a team of engineers to produce an MVP feature set for beta testing

Policy Builder - Templates
For entry level users without engineering or contract background we wanted to usher users through the complex policy building process using a series of templates that addressed common user requests
Policy Builder - Custom
For mid-level and advanced users I designed an experience using a modular, natural language rule builder to make all contract functions accessible and simple.
Policy Management
A dashboard for admin management of their policy
Asset Management
The way an admin manages all of an organizations assets
Activity
The way an admin views all of the activity across members and wallets being managed by their organization.
Team Management
The way an admin manages the members and groups within their organization
